Did I mention she cut her own bangs?

Yeah... I only found out because she got her scissors stuck in her hair and asked me to get them out. Yikes! Thankfully the damage wasn't too bad, but she did end up with short bangs for a while! They've mostly grown out now, but here's what they looked like right after the incident... Notice the one side that is significantly shorter than the other!

Self-cut bangs

Self-cut bangs

I told her she made her hair ugly by cutting it, and that made her sadder than the spanking she got for cutting her hair! (We have discussed the proper use of scissors on several occasions before, so she did know better!) She even called Mommom and Poppy and left a voicemail saying that she gave herself 'ugly hair'. Aside from the fact that it was so sad, it was kind of funny! I'm hoping she learned her lesson and won't do that again!

All Dressed Up to Paint the Town... Green?

Ellie and her friend Josie were playing downstairs a couple weeks ago when I realized I left the craft room door open. I realized it a little too late, though, and this is what I found:

They got into paint...

They got into paint...

They got into paint...

They got a bath, and the dress up clothes went straight into the wash. Hooray for washable ink!

The Colorer

Once upon a time, there was a little girl who loved to color. She would climb up in a chair at the table and say, "Color?" and wait patiently while her mommy got her some paper and a crayon. She loved to color. She was very good at it, too. This little girl tried to be careful and didn't color on anything but paper. So her mommy was always happy to let her color at the table and didn't think anything of it.

One day, a couple weeks ago, this little girl again crawled up into the chair at the table and asked to color. Her mommy was in the middle of getting ready for the morning, but stopped what she was doing to give the little girl some paper and a crayon. The little girl said, "Thank you." and sat coloring happily. So her mommy returned to the bedroom to get ready. After curling her hair, the little girl's mommy came out to the kitchen and found the little girl half in and half out of the chair. Assuming the girl was done coloring, the mommy put the crayon and paper away and they went about their business.

A little while later the little girl's mommy went into the front bathroom and this is what she saw:

It turns out that the sweet little girl was not climbing OUT of her chair when her mommy found her, but climbing back IN. She had gotten up, gone into the bathroom and colored on the toilet and bathtub, and was climbing back into her chair so her mommy wouldn't know. When Mommy showed the little girl the mess she'd made, all the little girl did was point to the toilet and say, "Colors!" Thankfully, crayon is easy to remove from hard surfaces like toilets and tubs, so the little girl did a little cleaning and all was forgiven. The end.

Crinkle, Crinkle, Crinkle....

That would be the sound of parchment paper you hear. Yes, the sound of parchment paper strewn about, being crinkled by my daughter. She's getting taller and can reach things further back on the shelf now.

Day 3

So after the flower pot incident, then the next day getting into the Tupperware, here is Ellie's idea of fun while Mommy is in the shower on the third day. Yes, those are crystal candle holders that were a wedding gift. And yes, she was enjoying the sound they make when she bangs them on the tile. Nothing broken, but I did rearrange the shelf.

How did she DO that??

I'm amazed. Somehow Eliana managed to silently break a terracotta pot and eat some of the dirt without my knowledge. I was sitting on the bed right next to her. She was happily playing and the plant was (I thought) out of her reach. A couple minutes later I looked over and this is what I saw:

Of course, like any good mother, I made sure she was okay and took pictures before cleaning up the scene. How does she do these things???
