A Second Car for the Growing Family

It would seem by the deposit we put down today and the waiting list we are on that our second vehicle will be a 2006 Toyota Prius. We were really impressed with how it drove (particularly on icy roads) and its fuel economy, as well as its safety features. It's a hatchback, so it gives us a little more freedom and room than the Taurus, but it's not a full-blown minivan or station wagon. We're still a few months away from its actual arrival in Bozeman, but sometime in the near future we, too, will become a 2-car American family.

Maternity Clothes...

It was an exciting day in our house when the box arrived... THE box. The box of maternity clothes that Elizabeth's roommate from college, Rachel, sent. Yes, Elizabeth tried on almost all 38 articles of clothing that evening. And yes, she's excited to have clothes that fit - even if they do fit into that maternity tent category. There are some things in life that just don't change. Maternity clothes will always be wider at the bottom than the top. But hey - so are the women who wear them, I guess.

Baby Flutters!

I'm pretty sure I felt the baby move today - just a little movement, a little flutter, but oh, so exciting! I've felt what I though were possible baby movements throughout the past few days, but today I'm pretty sure. Woohoo!! Tomorrow I will begin my 16th week of pregnancy. What a miracle, this new life!

A Sling!

Today I used my sewing machine for sewing... just like it is supposed to be used! Normally I am using it for crafting, sewing on cards, scrapbook pages, etc. But today I sewed a sling. I am excited to have a sling to carry my baby in when s/he is born... and proud to have made it myself! I followed the directions carefully and reinforced the stitching so that it would DEFINITELY be strong enough. And while I don't yet have a baby to carry around, I did practice with a bag of flour. So far, so good!

In other news, I added a few items to our Target registry, so it's up and running! Go ahead... take a peek. It's not too interesting yet, but it's a start.

Here's what Elizabeth looks like as we finish the first week of the 2nd trimester. Only 26 weeks to go!

Target Baby Registry

In a fit of pregnancy madness and ski-widow boredom, Elizabeth created a baby registry at Target.com yesterday. There's nothing listed on it yet, but when the time comes for people to start showering us with onesies and bibs, you'll all know where to look.

2nd Trimester

Elizabeth entered her 2nd trimester this week and we are excited. She didn't have any morning sickness at all the entire 1st trimester, so we were sure that she was home free on that front. It started to kick in this week, though, on a couple mornings. We hope that with a change in breakfast diet she can avoid the nausea and it will all pass quickly... Just goes to show that you can't always trust your body to perform "normally" compared to everyone else. What a fun journey!

It's Official!!

The announcement is official.... sometime in July the Wickland family will be expanding to three. Elizabeth will be expanding in the meantime, and we hope to post pictures here as it happens. The official due date is July 11th, though Elizabeth's family tends to have babies late (like 3 and 6 weeks late) while Leif's side has them early. So... we'll see what our baby does. So long as it's within two weeks of the due date on either side it looks like July for us!
