Weight and Height

It's been a long time since I've recorded Eliana's weight and height. But she's been looking taller lately, so I got brave and decided to measure her and see just how tall she's gotten. Here are the newest stats (though her weight is from a visit to the Dr. a couple weeks ago)...

Weight: 33 lbs
Height: 37 inches

That means she's still at about the 90% mark for both weight and height.

Craziness.

Well, there goes my chance to wear my teenage daughter's clothes!

Eliana had her 2 year well child appointment today and, as we suspected, she's doing great! =D I forgot to write down the exact measurements for weight and height, and the nurse never told me what they were for head circumference, so I'll have to call one day and find those out. But I DO remember where she falls on the charts, so I can give you that information...

weight: 75th percentile
height: 90th percentile

Okay... there goes my chance to wear my teenage daughter's clothes! I am about the same height as my mother, who is about the same height as her mother. And we are NOT in the 90th percentile for height! So... here's to the next few years she will still look up to me! Because by the time she's 8 she'll pass me by!

In other news, today was day 3 with no nap, and it's going well. There are still meltdowns. But she's going to bed and sleeping and that is good. Last night she slept from 7:15 to 8:30 this morning. And she now climbs into bed with me and snuggles a little more when she gets up. I haven't gotten that sort of treatment in ... about a year! So it looks like no naps are a good thing. To celebrate I took the crib down. It's out of her room. She's a big girl now. Just a toddler bed for her.

These ain't my momma's feet!

For as much as Eliana is like my mother, she apparently got someone else's feet. She has outgrown most of her size 6 shoes and the new shoes I bought her today are size 7. Wow! I can't believe that at 21 months Ellie is wearing size 7 shoes. Crazy. The saddest part is that I have to finally admit Ellie has outgrown my all time favorite shoes ever. I bought them in size 3, I bought them in size 5, and I admit that I'm tempted to go get them in size 7 now. I just love them. Maybe I should just go and buy them in every other size so she can wear them until she's 10.

15 Month Checkup

It's hard to believe that Eliana is 15 months old already. But she is. Today she had her 15 month checkup with Dr. Benda and everything looks good! Here are the stats:

height: 31 inches (75th percentile)
weight: 23 lbs 7 oz (55th percentile)
head circumference: 18 inches (50th percentile)

She has surpassed all of her milestones and is especially advanced on the language front, which is always nice to hear. The visit took longer than I expected (mostly just waiting in the room for the Dr. to come in) and I wasn't really prepared. I didn't bring in the diaper bag this time which meant that I didn't have toys, snacks, and juice to keep her occupied. Oops. All in all, though, it was fine. I was especially proud of how well she handled herself though FIVE shots today. A flu shot before the Dr. appointment, then four shots at the Dr. office. She cried through the shots (they hurt! I got one today, too) but was fine after that and even let me go to 3 places afterwards without causing a scene. I fully intended to give her Tylenol to help with the pain before we went to the appointment, but I forgot. And I forgot to give it to her when we got back to the car, too. I didn't remember until much later, and by that time she didn't seem to be bothered by her needle-poked legs, so I didn't give her any. She really is a good about shots, but that doesn't make them any more fun.

All in all our little girl is a healthy, happy 15 month old and we're happy to keep her that way! Though (and I forgot to mention)... she did get her first really noticeable toddler injury right before we left to go to the Dr. this afternoon. She was on the bed and lunged to get away from me and hit her face on the window sill behind the bed. So far we'd managed to keep her relatively bruise free, but this resulted in a scrape on her cheek and a black eye. Of course, right before we go see the Dr. But she was fine and after the initial crying was up and running around like nothing had happened.

12 Month Stats

Ellie had her 1 year checkup today and, much as we suspected, she has grown. She is now...

20 lbs 9 oz (50th percentile)
18 inch head circumference (75th percentile)
30.75 inches tall (92nd percentile)

Okay... who slipped my baby some tall genes? It certainly wasn't me. Yet there she is, up in the 92nd percentile for height. Go figure. She's going to be taller than me AND ski faster than me all by the time she's 3. *sigh*

Dr. Benda said Ellie looks perfect in every way. She is meeting and exceeding her 12 month checkpoints. He said she is walking very well and is very advanced linguistically (to which he added "But what else would you expect from the daughter of a Latin teacher?" - ha ha!) for her age. While I was waiting for him to come in and check on her, I jotted down all the words I could think of that she uses with meaning. I came up with 14. They are (in no particular order)...

thank you
hi
up
duck
meow
dog
mama
daddy
all done
uh oh
no
yeah
hello
book

She also has called these people by name...

Mommom
Poppy (whom she calls Dada, which is clearly distinct from Leif, who is Daddy)
Lily

She is officially a full-time walker (as of Monday) and doesn't crawl anymore. And today at Dr. Benda's office she stepped up on the examination table step with both feet, steadying herself with her hands. She's figuring things out quickly, and I don't know that I'm ready for that just yet! But it is wonderful to see her growing and learning and I'm so happy to know that she's healthy and developing well. Thank you, Father, for our little girl.

9 Month Checkup

Monday was Ellie's 9 month checkup. She's grown quite a bit and is ahead of schedule on her developmental milestones. Here are the stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 4.5 oz (25th percentile)
Height: 27.5 inches (48th percentile)
Head Circumference: 17.75 inches (80th percentile!)

Leif says she's got a big head because she's going to be a brainiac genius child.
